As I sat down to write this next 12 Days of Christmas post, vis-a-vis home decor, I toyed with the title “Time to Sparkle”.
Then it got me thinking of Robin Sparkles from How I Met Your Mother. Which had me entirely distracted from Christmas, and making my point of elevating your holiday decor by adding some sparkle.
Fast forward a few more title variations and voila; Metallic Accents to Elevate Your Festive Style!
I’ve always found metallics to be a great way of glamming up any setting. If done correctly!
Here’s a quick list of holiday decorating tips I’ve learned over the years:
- Gold and silver work with almost any decorative palette.
- Over metali-sizing is a real thing. Sometimes less is more.
- Dark colours like navy or forest green that are also metallic, can add a lot of depth to your styling.
- Limit yourself to a palette of three colours. Less can be more here, too.
I personally love the following colour combos when I’m selecting what decorative theme to go with each year:
- Forest Green, White & Gold.
- Silver, Navy & White.
- White, Navy & Gold.
- Red, Black & Gold.
Adding glam to your table is a lot easier than you think! A great way to start, is by layering in some items with metallic accents or glitter. The simplest way to start in my opinion, is in adding a bowl full of tree ornaments! So festive, yes?!
Another great way to get started with adding glam or sparkle to your table, is by adding a string of micro lights, preferably white, down the middle of the table. This should add a nice dramatic effect and give you that WOW-factor!
