3 Healthy Snacks You Can Make in Under 10 Minutes

Raise your hand if you love hummus!

I find hummus to be very underrated! It’s funny though, because I find so many people who share that they love hummus, yet I know so few make it from scratch.

I also happen to be a big fan of cilantro. I personally believe it to be the best herb to ever exist on planet Earth, so naturally, a cilantro-infused hummus became a food group of its own in my house.

Two of the three healthy snacks I’m sharing with you today call for some variation of hummus.

One is a cilantro hummus (the better one if you ask me), and the other is a beet hummus. The third recipe calls for banana and almond butter as a base for the spread. One thing that the three snacks have in common though, are these delicious Morning Rounds by Ozery Bakery!

Pro tip, Ozery Bakery’s Morning Rounds can be eaten at any time of day!

I actually enjoy them even more as afternoon snacks, especially the cilantro hummus and grape tomato recipe. The hummus gives it a great protein & fibre kick, and the morning rounds tie in some healthy carbs & iron.

Here are three healthy snacks you can try out at home. See below how you can win a prize pack of freshly baked Morning Rounds from Ozery Bakery to be mailed directly to you!

1. Almond Butter Banana Morning Rounds topped with Strawberry Stars & Cashews.

This recipe is great for breakfast, especially late weekend breakfasts after a morning of hitting snooze. If you’ve got kids, then you can forget the sleeping in on weekends, but note they’ll likely appreciate the crafty strawberry stars!

To get the strawberry stars just right, you need to take your knife, and angle it at 45 degrees in opposing directions as you make your way around the strawberry. This is a technique I learned only recently.

Once you’ve made your full way around, you can separate the top from the bottom and you’ll get these cute little star shaped berries. You can use this technique on a ton of different fruits actually, I’ve seen it done a lot on kiwis recently.

RECIPE

INSTRUCTIONS

To make the spread, take your banana and mash it down with a fork until the texture becomes soft. Add your bee-free honey and your almond butter and mix in thoroughly.

Spread your banana & almond butter butter mash evenly on the Morning Rounds, and feel free to add your strawberries and nut medley, or get creative and add anything you like!

2. Cilantro Hummus Morning Rounds topped with Asian Microgreens & Grape Tomatoes

Also known as the best herb ever infused hummus 🙂 This snack is great for afternoon pick me ups. I like to ditch the chips, which will leave you feeling sluggish anyway, and opt for some greens.

I personally like the combo of sprouts with tomatoes, but I know of a lot of people who find them to be bitter. You can always swap out the microgreens with something softer like arugula, baby spinach or a mix of spring lettuce.

You’ll need: 3 Muesli Ozery Bakery Morning Rounds

For the cilantro hummus

  • 1 can of chickpeas
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • ⅓ cup of fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of ½ a lemon, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

Toss all your ingredients into a food processor, and pulse for 1-2 minutes until texture becomes soft and fluffy.

Pro tip: to get your hummus even fluffier, simply add more lemon juice 🙂

3. Beet Hummus Morning Rounds topped with Avocado & Scallions

They say we eat with our eyes first, right?! Well, beet hummus is one of those foods that just catches mine and instantly makes me smile!

I’ve found the pop of colour to always be great for entertaining. I like how it takes an entirely plain food, and elevates it with a simple added ingredient. And a vegetable of all things, too!

You’ll need: 3 Multi Grain Ozery Bakery Morning Rounds

For the beet hummus:

  • 1 can of chickpeas
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium beet, peeled and boiled
  • Juice of ½ a lemon, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

A little bit about Ozery Bakery

Since 1996 Ozery Bakery has been supplying innovative freshly baked breads with interesting flavours and textures.

Something I quite like about Ozery, is that to this day, they remain fully independent and family owned. I love that they supply to major Canadian grocery stores and they also distribute in the US.

    1. Hey Ciara,

The beet hummus is definitely a fav of mine! I love how it adds a nice POP of colour to your food! Let me know if you ever try it out at home and how you like it!

  1. Love the CILANTRO HUMMUS MORNING ROUNDS TOPPED WITH ASIAN MICROGREENS & GRAPE TOMATOES recipe! I would not add much to what is already in the recipe – maybe just a splash of hot chili sauce or balsamic vinegar!

  2. Good afternoon,

These all look amazing,I tried the peanut butter strawberry one,not only does it look beautiful but it tastes delicious, the combination on the rounds is just perfect for breakfast or snack..Your presentations are always beautiful and appetizing.

    Thank you.

  3. I can’t wait to try the beet hummus! Im thinking about topping it with shaved cucumber for some redressing crunch.
I did try the cilantro hummus though, and it was fantastic! I also made a variation on it, and gave it a Thai twist. I topped it with mango, avocado, and green onions, and drizzled a bit of sriracha on it all. Maybe some slivered almonds would go good too? Some carrots for crunch?
