Da Vincenzo’s is hands down, THE best restaurant in the Amalfi Coast (Positano)!
S and I ate at Da Vincenzo’s FOUR times during the length of our stay in Amalfi. FOUR! … We couldn’t help ourselves, the food was just TOO GOOD! The other ten nights of our honeymoon were spent frequenting several other top restaurants along the coast (which I’ll share with you in a separate post), but as for Da Vincenzo’s… they definitely deserve a spotlight feature! From the authenticity of the dishes, to the flavour of the food and the friendliness and quaintness of the staff and restaurant, the setting and ambiance were utter perfection for a romantic dinner for two. And given that we were visiting on our honeymoon, we couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to dine here, be it one, two, three or four times lol!
My favourite item on the menu was the fried zucchini flowers, stuffed with fresh ricotta cheese!
S is definitely less of a seafood person than I am, so when it came to ordering items like Linguine Alle Vongole or the Fresh Scampi, he gladly steered away and let his rumbling tummy guide him straight to the wholesome pasta dishes with traditional Italian meat sauces. His fusilli dish is featured here, alongside my seafood linguine.
Other must-try items on the menu:
- Grilled octopus salad served with fresh artichokes
- The ricotta-stuffed zucchini flowers
- The tubbetone pasta served with tuna, beans and homemade tomato sauce
- The scampi, with citrus and greens
- And the “Mezzi Paccheri” – served with mussels and potatoes
We first heard of the restaurant upon recommendation from the concierge of our hotel. I never would have guessed that this would become my favourite place and best restaurant in the Amalfi Coast! Da Vincenzo’s was located halfway between where we were staying in Positano and the center square, or the piazza as the Italians call it! During our first visit to the restaurant, we sat on the outdoor patio and got to enjoy the sunset as it slowly descended behind the gorgeous glowing mountains of the city. The food alone was the catalyst that would drive us back here only two days later. On our second night, the forecast was a little cloudy and chilly, so we sat indoors. This is where we fell in love with the atmosphere. The exposed stone walls, the friendliness of the staff and the (literal) mom and pop running the show, was all we needed to see to know that this place was the real deal. The definition of authentic Italian. It was an instantaneous lightbulb moment where I knew I would feature Da Vincenzo’s on Inspired by Nick as the ultimate food, restaurant and travel inspo as the best restaurant in the Amalfi Coast. For any of you looking to travel there some day, definitely take note of this gem – just read the awesome reviews on yelp from other restaurant patrons for yourself here!
All my life, I was convinced I did not like tiramisu. Every time I would try it, the mix of the many flavours would be too overwhelming for me and I wouldn’t even finish the one bite. For some reason, when the waiter came around with the dessert tray at the end of our meal, this gravitational force was pulling every fiber in my body to point to the tiramisu. I was possessed! The dessert arrived, with two forks, I took one bite… and couldn’t bring myself to… share the rest of it with S! I was a total tiramisu tyrant! I wanted it all to myself, it was SO delicious!
If and when you visit Da Vincenzo’s in Positano on the Amalfi Coast, you CANNOT pass up on the opportunity to visit, and order the tiramisu!
