DYK?! This summer you can grab some decadent treats from the Haagen-Dazs Big Gold Truck all over Toronto!
When we found out that Haagen-Dazs was going to be touring Toronto in a big gold truck with a summer menu of decadent ice cream treats, S and I decided to make it our mission to HUNT IT DOWN!
Haagen-Dazs cookie dough ice cream is my ALL TIME FAV and I would eat tubs and tubs of it, if I could without becoming a giant tub myself! Anyway, back to Haagen-Dazs and their big gold truck this summer. Being downtown Toronto condo dwellers, we naturally wanted to visit the truck when it was closest to us. So we checked the Haagen-Dazs gold truck map for when it would be in our neighborhood and decided to make a date night out of it! We grabbed the pupster and headed over to the financial district location earlier in July and each picked something from their summer menu!
Unfortunately, though, on the night we visited the truck, the city was having some crazy flash floods! Luckily we managed to dodge all the rain by taking shelter in a close by Starbucks (we had to hide Zsazsa under our sweaters – shh!!). And as soon as the clouds cleared, the sun came right back out and it felt like summer all over again! So why not treat ourselves to some giant chocolate peanut-butter ice cream cups!?
The Haagen Dazs Gold Truck was the sweetest proverbial cherry on top to our date night!
Their summer food truck menu was actually pretty sweet! (pun intended). But seriously, it wasn’t a run of the mill, chocolate-vanilla-strawberry kind of menu. Haagen-Dazs teamed up with Chef Cory Vitiello to craft some decadent ice cream recipes to sell on their summer truck tour! And anyone who’s following the Toronto food scene will tell you that Cory Vitiello is the man right now! He’s the chef at The Harbord Room and Eat Flock, and is one of The Food Network’s chefs on the show: “Chef in Your Ear.”
He helped craft this Haagen-Dazs gold truck menu item: Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream with toasted marshmallow meringue, fried corn bread, sour cherry, and roasted peanut sauce.
This is the one me and S ordered, and there were definitely a LOT of flavours in it! If you’re someone who’s into the rich, decadent and flavor mixing ice-cream concoctions, then this one is for you! If you’re someone who loves the classic Haagen-Dazs strawberry flavor (like me), they’ve got that, too! Be sure to stop by one of their locations this August, as that will be the end of their summer tour! And share your #feelingofaah moment like I did on Instagram here, and see all of the delicious treats Toronto’s foodies have been enjoying!
