This week I was visiting family in Montreal, and if you’ve visited before, you know that Montreal summers can be scorchers!
My mom had never tried matcha before, so on a day where even our eyelids were sweating from from the summer burn, I made us some iced matcha lattes to stay cool!
While I’m a huuuuuge almond milk lover, Mom’s always been pretty finicky with it. The taste, the texture… something about it just never quite jived with her. So she was a little reluctant to try these iced matcha lattes out, but she gave them a shot.
These iced maple matcha lattes are super easy to make, and only require three ingredients!
- Almond milk
- Matcha powder (for quality, be sure the box reads “ceremonial Japanese” and that it’s a product of Japan) Colour should be emerald green, no other shade.
- Organic maple syrup
I mentioned being a huge almond milk lover, so for this recipe I’m using Earth’s Own Almond So Fresh, unsweetened vanilla flavour.
Earth’s Own recently revamped the recipe based on customer feedback to create an ultimate tasting, and rich textured almond milk.
I personally really like to TASTE the almond in almond milk, so this choice was perfect.
And the hints of vanilla in the almond milk paired perfectly with the sweet maple syrup and the tart matcha flavours!
There are just a few steps to preparing these iced maple matcha lattes, but I promise they’re super simple.
For single servings:
Add water to a kettle and bring to boil.
In a small cup, mug, or jar, mix together one full teaspoon of ceremonial matcha powder with about 4 oz (½ cup) boiled water. Whisk together thoroughly using a small whisk or hand frother.
The temperature should have cooled after whisking. Now add 2-3 ice cubes to bring the temperature to a chill.
Add 3 tbsp maple syrup, and whisk once more.
Add 6 oz (¾ cup) of your preferred almond milk (mine is Earth’s Own So Fresh Almond – unsweetened vanilla).
Voila! Serve and enjoy!
Let me know if you make these Iced Maple Matcha Lattes this summer and if you alter the recipe to add in your favourite ingredients!
