Who else is happy it’s the weekend? And who else is thinking about their Sunday morning cup of coffee?! I know I am!
I have been meaning to write this blog post on my Nespresso VertuoLine coffee maker for months now, literally, MONTHS! That’s how behind things can get sometimes when you’ve got too much on your plate! I definitely learned that the hard way recently. I’d been overcommitting myself for a while, not necessarily to too many things at once, but rather giving too much of myself to any single given thing in particular. This past month, it just so happened to be my job.
I would go in extra early in the mornings (because I’m more productive in the morning). Next, I’d power straight through to about 12:00pm and work through my lunch. Then, I’d usually hit a teensy slow patch in the afternoon and power up again right through to the end of the day. Laser focus all day and no breaks. I also wasn’t sleeping at night because my mind was too preoccupied with EVERYTHING I had to do the next day! Does that happen to anyone else?
Anyway, things are MUCH better now. Sometimes all you need to do is take a step back from everything you have going on in life and press reset.
So that’s what I did. I took a day off work, made myself a cup of coffee and went up to the roof to just sit down, and relax. To think, but not overthink. And it really helped put things into perspective. ALL of us have a lot going on, and everyone’s got their struggles, right? Complaining doesn’t accomplish anything, so sometimes it just requires thought. But who can think straight when we all have so much going on? I had reached a point where I needed to jumpstart my days and my routines in a different way.
My first priority: giving myself a little more “me time” in the mornings.
I mentioned earlier that I’m most productive in the mornings. That’s just who I am. So I decided to take this time to sit down with a cup of Nespresso (the diavolito is my fav!), and collect my thoughts, rather than getting up and rushing straight through my morning to get to work as fast as possible. NO MORE rushing!
By rushing all the time, I felt like I was being more productive because I was getting things done in less amount of time, but that just isn’t the case. Instead, now I take breaks, little ones here and there, with a cup of Nespresso, to do nothing but think, slow down, and think some more. And like I said, things are MUCH better now.
I know it sounds crazy to think that coffee or my Nespresso machine helped me to be more productive. But that isn’t the message here. Taking breaks and giving yourself more of the “you time” you deserve is what’s going to help. The Nespresso just happens to be a perfect companion to taking little breaks throughout your day to help collect your thoughts and be a more efficient you!
What are some of your productivity tips and tricks? I find taking breaks to be key!
And what are your favourite Nespresso flavours?! I’m addicted to the vanilla flavoured one (Vanilio) and the South and Central American Arabicas one (Lungo Forte).
