Welcome to my kitchen friends! This is where I whip up all of my meals. From yummy egg breakfast wraps, to snacks and dinners for me and my heartmate. I also create my post-workout smoothies right here, every morning before work, and today I’m sharing a quick and easy plant based smoothie recipe help inspire your morning rituals!
The thing I like most about this plant based smoothie recipe is how nutrient-rich it is!
My friends and family know how seriously I take my health, and my morning ritual is no exception. People ask me all the time what I do to get my skin to look so vibrant during the day, so I thought I’d share that with you here.
And while my morning smoothie is a big contributor to my overall health, the real secret to staying healthy on the day to day is water! Especially if you’re looking for clean, clear skin. Though, it shouldn’t really be a secret to anyone by now. We all know that our bodies are made of 70% water – right? Well, we’ve got to replenish that reserve regularly, every single day.
My morning ritual includes:
- 1 liter of water within the first hour I wake up.
- 45 minutes at the gym.
- 10 mins cardio
- 30 mins weights
- 5 mins stretches
- And 1 post-workout smoothie; plant based & nutrient packed!
If I’m being 100% honest, there should be a fourth bullet listed above for coffee. I didn’t include it though, since I’ve been trying to stop drinking it for a while now. Every morning is like a roller coaster of indecision as I walk by five different coffee shops on my way to work.
I really do like having a warm beverage in the morning, something to cozy up the start of my day, no matter the season! As long as it’s in moderation, I won’t make coffee a concern for myself.
So what goes into the smoothie?!
Well, I like to think I mix it up and treat myself to a different smoothie recipe every morning, but the truth is I mostly stick to just one. Is that the same for you? I think we all kind of gravitate toward the things we like most, right?
- 1 scoop of Vega ONE Mixed Berries plant-based protein powder
- 1 organic banana
- 2 handfuls of mixed organic frozen berries
- 300ml of Silk Almond Milk
- 1 tsp of cinnamon
- 1 tsp of raw Manuka honey
And voila! You’ve got my post-workout, plant based smoothie recipe that I make for myself every morning!
My Smoothie Hack!?
Add the protein powder at the very end! Make sure it’s the last ingredient you add to the mix. Doing it this way prevents those nasty clumps that stick to the walls of the traveler! Aren’t those gross? Every time I used to get one, it would be like a yucky gulp of concentrated powder. But now you know how to avoid it!
What goes into YOUR smoothies?
Leave me a note in the comment section below to let me know what yummy ingredients I’m missing out on! If you’re like me, you’ll likely say peanut butter! I can add peanut butter to anything I think of really, especially smoothies! I’ve actually been looking for a good nutty smoothie recipe, if you’ve got one please share!!
