Sometimes (usually on Sundays) I like to get fancy with my breakfasts.
A couple layers of chia pudding, superfood smoothie, some coconut yogurt… you know, the usual. 😉
My friends joke that with these layered chia cups and the endless smoothie bowls on my instagram page, that I should open a smoothie shack.
I mean, I’m not saying that isn’t a possibility… in the distant future maybe, where I’m retired, growing my own coconut trees, and living in Hawaii? Not a bad idea!
For now, I think I’ll stick with living in Canada and making these simple superfood smoothie stacks for two!

For a long time I’ve been weary of using any supplement powders, especially protein
I question the source of the ingredients and how they stack up on the heavy metals tests if not organic.
Lately I’ve been staying away from protein powders all together. I don’t believe every smoothie requires a protein powder, especially if you’re already using natural sources like a handful of almonds, pumpkin seeds, or a tablespoon or two of peanut butter.
When it comes to superfood powders, like chlorella, spirulina, maca, etc. Two things to look for are the certified organic symbol and non-GMO.
In my opinion, if you’re going to be spending money on superfoods (which, let’s face it, are not $1.99/lb), you may as well ensure the ingredients are obtained from organic sources.
For these layered smoothie stacks, I’m using the Botanica Health Perfect Greens – Berry Flavour. It’s great for folks who aren’t a fan of that traditional “green” flavour. And the best part; the sweetness comes from natural sources, no added sweeteners. Not even Stevia!

Make these Simple Superfood Smoothie Stacks at home!
When I say simple here, I actually mean it. Because how annoying is it to find a recipe that says simple, but sources ingredients from the norwegian mountains. LOL! Right?!
These superfood smoothie stacks require just a few ingredients. Here’s the breakdown:
Chia Pudding Layer:
- 1 ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk,
- ¼ cup chia seeds.

Superfood Smoothie Layer:
- 1 banana,
- 1 pear,
- 2 scoops Botanica Health Perfect Greens – Berry,
- 1 generous tbsp peanut butter,
- 1 cup water or almond milk.
Coconut Yogurt Layer:
- Organic coconut yogurt (I sometimes sweeten with vanilla extract).
- Raw almonds,
- Coconut flakes,
- Frozen berries.
Not pictured here, but a great addition for toppings that adds a crunchy texture, is freshly made granola. I usually add another quarter cup as a top layer and mix it all around for a crunchier texture!
