The windy city.
Chi-town. Chi-city. Chi-beria – if you haven’t visited in the winter time, trust.
Whatever your nickname for this east coast gem, there are SO many amazing things to do in Chicago.
I love to travel and this was my first time visiting the windy city! It certainly did not disappoint. I was lucky enough to travel with a dear friend of mine. It was just the two of us as we explored everything Chicago had to offer. We were looking at Chicago RV Rentals and it seemed like a great option for us. However, my friend found a beautiful hotel that he wanted to stay in so we decided to do that instead. There are lots of accommodation options in Chicago so if you’re planning a visit, make sure you choose carefully!
Looking back, I only wish we had more time in the city, to experience and share more memories together. But of all the things to do in Chicago, we definitely ticked off some major sites.
Visiting the Silver Bean in Millennium Park was my favourite of all the things to do in Chicago!
There’s actually a funny story behind how I was able to capture the amazing shot (above) of JUST me with the bean. I won’t go into the details, but let me just tell you it involved waking up at 5:00am on a Saturday morning and rushing to the park from our hotel in magnificent mile, fending off a couple of pro-photographers to clear the scene and coordinate with the park security to let us take the shot quickly.
Looking back, I’m pretty grateful to have a friend who would put up with my ridiculousness and passion for capturing beauty from behind the lens.
When your friends are as passionate about the same things as you are, travelling and sight-seeing together is that much more meaningful. When we landed in Chicago, we were somewhat overwhelmed with all of the things to do, but we had our non-negotiables! Namely:
- The Silver Bean,
- Millennium Park,
- The Skydeck,
- Catch a live music show at Andy’s Jazz Club,
- Deep Dish Pizza from Gino’s East,
- The Signature Room at the John Hancock Building,
- Buckingham Fountain,
- A River Boat Tour and of course,
- The Art Institute of Chicago.
Naturally, we picked up some city passes and began exploring, checking things off our lists, one by one.
Here are come of my favourite pictures from our trip, and let me know what YOUR favourite things to do in Chicago are in the comments section below. I’ll be sure to give them a try next time I visit!
