Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and Happy Kwanza friends! However you celebrate this month, I’m sending you a warm season’s greetings!
December is my favourite time of year. The time to cozy up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate. The time to watch reruns of old comedies; Friends, Will & Grace, The Nanny… yes, growing up I used to LOVE watching Nanny Fine’s and Mr. Sheffield’s shenanigans on The Nanny – Someone please, tell me I’m not alone here!
December is also the time of year to send cards to your loved ones.
When it came to Christmas time, I never really thought twice about sending greeting cards. Growing up with family members that were kind of all over the place, sending Christmas cards was just the thing to do. So it just became a habit for me I guess.
My favourite part about sending greeting cards, is picking out the perfect one!
Earlier this year I shared a post on JustGreet Greeting Cards. They’re an amazing Canadian-based, small team who supports talented independent artists. Their inventory of quirky graphic designs and witty warm wished are just some of my favourites to send to my family and friends. And I love that their cards are printed on 100% recycled paper!! <3 <3
Growing up, every year I remember my mom pulling out a stack of cards from our Christmas inventory.
Together we would start to list all of our family members and their various addresses. My mom would usually write the card, and my sister and I would scribble our names in crayon down at the bottom. Then, when we would see them around Christmas time, their faces would always light up to say they loved our cards and family photos!
I love the feeling I get from receiving a handwritten card from someone I care about.
Funnily enough, I feel the inverse about gifts. I much prefer to give a gift to someone than to receive one. I’m not sure if it’s getting to see their face when they open the gift, or knowing that I got them something they love… but the joy you get from giving a loved one the perfect gift, is irreplaceable.
This year, I picked out a few of my favourites from JustGreet Greeting Cards’ Holiday Selection. I picked out some funny pop-culture referencing ones for my friends who love Drake & Queen B just as much as I do! And some cute holiday-themed ones for my family who might not be quite THERE (i.e., “Drake-ing the halls”) just yet!
I hope these fun and quirky cards inspire you to send a warm wish to a loved one this holiday season! Merry Christmas to all (who celebrate) and to all a good night! – Nick
